Instant coffee turning hard or losing its fragrance is a very common kitchen problem. With a few simple storage hacks, you can keep your coffee dry and flavourful for a longer period of time.
Always use a thoroughly dry spoon to scoop out coffee every time. Even a tiny moisture drop can make it clump and spoil the texture fast.
Transfer the coffee from its original jar to an airtight jar. Tight seals will protect it from humidity, exposure to air, and loss of flavour.
Store instant coffee in a cool, dry place and not near the stove or sink. Heat and steam are the biggest enemies that destroy the freshness of coffee.
Avoid keeping the instant coffee in the fridge. Temperature changes can cause condensation, due to which the coffee hardens and tastes dull.
Add a few uncooked rice grains inside the container and a silica gel packet outside to absorb the excess moisture.
Close the lid immediately after each use. Leaving the jar open, even for a short time span, lets humid air enter and affects the texture over time.
