Jamun is considered good for the body because it benefits the digestive system, promotes heart health, and contributes to overall well-being. So when you get these home, you need to store them properly to avoid spoilage. Here are a few tips to follow.
Washing jamun is essential to remove dirt and dust on the surface. But wash them when you are planning to eat, not before storing them.
The moment you are home after purchasing jamun, refrigerate them. Their skin is delicate and susceptible to spoilage.
Wash jamun or transfer them from one container to another gently or you might burst them and have to throw them away.
Storing jamun in perforated boxes is essential to prevent moisture build-up and allow the circulation of air.
When you get jamun, look for bad fruits and throw them away. It will ensure one bad piece does not ruin the whole packet.
You can also dehydrate jamun to extend its shelf life. Make sure there is no moisture in the fruit, or else it will go bad soon.
For long-term storage, you can also puree jamun and freeze it in small batches. You can use it while baking or adding a burst of colour to your beverages.
