A ‘cream’ that has been slowly preserved or soured with an acid to produce a thicker, tanginess to it, sour cream is a versatile product which can be used to layer as a spread, serve as a dip or enrich baked goods. Follow this recipe to make it at home.
¼ cup of whole milk ¾ teaspoons of white vinegar, distilled 1 cup of heavy cream
In a mixing bowl, pour the milk and add vinegar; let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
Take a jar and pour in the heavy cream. Add the vinegar and milk mixture to it and stir gently.
Cover the jar with a cheesecloth or muslin cloth. Leave it for 24 hours at room temperature.
Chill it in the refrigerator and transfer into airtight jars. Store it and use within a week.
