Tahini sauce is a nutty condiment prepared from roasted sesame seeds. Ideal for drizzling over falafel, salads, and adding to hummus or roasted veggies, this sauce adds a rich flavour and silky texture to any dish, and needs just minutes to prepare.
½ cup sesame seeds 3 tbsp olive oil 2 tbsp lemon juice 1 clove garlic, minced ¼ cup warm water (adjust for consistency) Salt to taste Optional: ½ tsp cumin for extra flavour
In a dry pan, lightly roast ½ cup sesame seeds for 3 to 4 minutes until they turn golden and aromatic. Keep aside and let it cool.
Transfer the roasted sesame seeds to a blender.
Add 3 tablespoons of olive oil and blend until a smooth paste is made.
Add in some minced garlic, lemon juice and salt. Blend it again until all the ingredients are fully combined.
Now, slowly add warm water while mixing until you get a creamy, pourable texture.
You can also add some cumin for depth. Store the prepared tahini sauce in a glass jar and refrigerate for up to a week.
