How To Make Sabudana Khichdi: A Classic Indian Fasting Dish

Sabudana Khichdi is a popular Indian dish made with soaked tapioca pearls or sabudana, peanuts, and mild spices. Light, non-greasy, and energy-rich, it’s commonly enjoyed during fasting (vrat) and as a quick breakfast or snack.

Ingredients

1 cup sabudana soaked 5-6 hours 2  boiled & diced potatoes ¼ cup roasted, coarsely crushed peanuts 2 tbsp ghee or oil 2 finely chopped green chillies 1 tsp cumin seeds 5-6 curry leaves Salt to taste 1 tsp lemon juice 2 tbsp chopped fresh coriander

Step 1

Rinse soaked sabudana until starch washes out and drain the water.

Step 2

Heat ghee, add cumin seeds, green chillies, and curry leaves.

Step 3

Add diced potatoes, then sauté till they turn golden.

Step 4

Add sabudana, crushed peanuts, salt and cook on low flame for 5-7 minutes until pearls turn translucent.

Step 5

Finish with lemon juice and coriander, then serve hot.
