Podi masala is a traditional South Indian spice mix that is served with idlis and dosas to give the meals a fiery kick. Make the preservative-free spice blend at home with this podi masala recipe.
1 cup urad dal 1/4 cup dried red chillies 2 tablespoons coriander seeds 1 tablespoon cumin seeds 1 tablespoon curry leaves 1 teaspoon hing Salt to taste 2 tablespoons oil
Heat some oil and dry roast urad dal. Add dried chillies and roast till fragrant.
In a separate pan, dry roast coriander seeds, cumin seeds, and curry leaves.
Once cool, grind all the ingredients till you get a coarse powder. Mix in salt and hing.
Store the podi masala in an airtight container and pair it with your meals.
