Avocado toast is a breakfast that looks fancy, tastes like a cafe and demands only five minutes to prepare. Creamy, crunchy and endlessly customisable, this toast is ideal for rushed mornings when you want something new, satisfying and also a bit Instagram-worthy.
1 medium ripe avocado 2 bread slices 1–2 tsp lemon juice 1 tsp extra virgin olive oil (optional) Salt to taste ¼ tsp, freshly crushed black pepper ¼ tsp (optional) chilli flakes 1 small clove, grated (optional) garlic 3–4, sliced (optional topping) cherry tomatoes 1 tbsp, chopped fresh herbs (coriander/parsley)
Select a medium avocado that is slightly ripe. Avoid very hard or overly mushy ones.
Toast 2 slices of the bread till they turn golden and crisp. A firm, crunchy base will hold the creamy avocado without making it soggy.
Cut half the avocado, remove the seed and scoop the inside into a bowl. Add some lemon juice, salt, pepper and garlic (optional). Lightly mash it, keeping some small chunks.
Drizzle 1 tsp olive oil and sprinkle some chilli flakes on top. Mix gently. This will add richness and taste to the toast.
Spread the prepared avocado filling evenly over the bread toast. The heat slightly softens the bread, making every bite creamy and extremely satisfying.
Put some cherry tomato slices on the top and garnish with herbs and some extra pepper. Serve immediately for the best crunch–cream texture in every single bite.
