Nimona is a comforting traditional North Indian curry made from coarsely crushed green peas, cooked with mild spices and aromatics, creating a flavorful, rustic dish perfect with hot rotis or steamed rice.
2 cups fresh green peas 1 finely chopped onion 1 finely chopped tomato 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste 1 chopped green chilli 1 tsp cumin seeds ½ tsp turmeric powder ½ tsp red chilli powder ½ tsp garam masala 2 tbsp mustard oil Salt to taste Water as required
Coarsely grind the fresh green peas and keep aside.
Heat mustard oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, then sauté onions until golden brown.
Add ginger-garlic paste, green chilli, and tomatoes; cook until the oil separates from the masala.
Mix in the ground peas, turmeric, red chilli powder, and salt, then let it cook on a low flame until the peas release some oil.
Add water as needed, simmer for 10 minutes, sprinkle garam masala, and serve hot with roti or rice.
