Khakhra is a non-negotiable accompaniment on the dining tables in most Gujarati homes. Thicker than papad, it can be eaten as a snack with achaar or paired with your meals. Make it at home in 5 steps.
1 cup whole wheat flour 2 tbsp besan 1/2 tsp jeera 1/2 tsp red chilli powder A pinch haldi A pinch of hing 2.5 tbsps water 1 tsp oil Salt to taste Whole wheat flour for rolling
Combine flour, besan, jeera, red chilli powder, haldi, hing, and salt. Mix in oil to make crumbs.
Add water and knead till you get a smooth dough.
Take small portions of the dough and roll them into thin circles.
Heat a tawa and cook the rolled dough till golden brown.
Once cooked from both sides, let them cool, and enjoy the crispy snack.
