How To Make Indonesian Mie Goreng At Home Without Breaking A Sweat

Stir-fried noodles prepared along with prawns,pak choi and other seasoning ingredients, mie goreng or mee goreng is an Indonesian noodle dish that’s also found in Malaysia and other parts of South East Asia. With a sticky, savoury sweet sauce, noodles are tossed with chicken, prawns, vegetables and signature egg ribbons. Here is a quick recipe for a comforting bowl of mie goreng.

Ingredients

5 garlic cloves ½  cup of yellow onions, chopped 1 cup of champignon mushrooms 4 pak chois 1 scallion 1 chilli pepper 3 packs of yellow noodles 2 tablespoons of margarine 1 egg

Ingredients

1 cup prawns 1 tablespoon of soy sauce 2 tablespoons of oyster sauce 1 teaspoon of fish sauce 2 tablespoons of sweet soy sauce ⅕  teaspoon of salt ⅕  teaspoon of white pepper

Step 1

Mince garlic. Chop the leaves of pak choi, slice mushrooms, scallions, onions and chillies lengthwise.

Step 2

Boil noodles in a pot until soft. Heat the margarine in a pan over high heat.

Step 3

Add onion, garlic and cook for 20 seconds. Add the egg and stir until it is cooked.

Step 4

Add prawns and toss for a minute or so until they turn pinkish in colour. Now add soy sauce, fish sauce, and oyster sauce. Sauté for another 2 minutes.

Step 5

Add mushrooms and add boiled noodles,pak choi, scallions, peppers and sweet soy sauce. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly and season with salt and pepper.

Step 6

Serve hot with a sunny-side-up egg(optional).
