Along with being soft and savoury, goli idlis are also aesthetically pleasing and appealing to the eyes. This recipe can be a fun way to eat idlis for breakfast that both kids and adults like.
½ kg rice flour 1 teaspoon mustard seed 1 teaspoon urad dal 1 teaspoon Bengal gramme 3 to 4 dry red chillies 1 medium ginger 2 green chillies 3 sprigs of curry leaves One handful of coriander leaves 1 cup of water 1 tablespoon ghee Salt, as needed
Boil water in a pan, add salt and ghee. Add rice flour and mix well until the water is absorbed.
Transfer the moist flour into the large mixing bowl. Take a small amount of dough and roll it into balls.
Heat water in an idli steamer. Place the balls into an idli steamer plate and steam for 10 to 12 minutes.
After cooking the goli idlis, take the steamed goli idlis and keep aside. Heat oil in a pan, add spluttered mustard seed, urad dal, and Bengal gram.
Sauté well. Add dry red chilli, chopped ginger, green chilli and curry leaves as well.
Add steamed goli idlis and mix well. Add coriander leaves and mix and cook for 5 to 6 minutes.
Remove from heat and set aside. Serve and enjoy soft goli idlis.
