Idli, the South Indian staple, is a go-to breakfast option all across the country. There are also many dishes like masala idli, idli chaat, idli tikki, etc., that are impeccable for munching in the evening. Here’s how you can make idli in a microwave.
Make the idli batter with soaked rice and lentils like urad dal. Blend the grains and add water to make a consistent mixture.
Grease the microwave-safe idli plates with a little oil so that the batter doesn’t stick to the bottom.
Pour the batter into the idli plates and fill them to about three-fourths, leaving some space for the idlis to rise.
Cover the idli plates and cook in the microwave for about five minutes. Check with a toothpick if the insides are also cooked.
After the idlis are fully cooked, set them aside for about two minutes so that they can cool down.
After two minutes, take the idlis out of the mould and enjoy them with sambar, chutney, or as a snack.
