Upma is a popular South Indian dish and is a delicious, healthy, and wholesome meal. Oats are a healthy food grain which is popular. Mix them, and you’ll get the perfect oats upma recipe for breakfast.
1 cup oats 1 finely chopped onion 1 finely chopped carrot ¼ cup green peas 1 finely chopped green bell pepper ½ tsp mustard seeds A few curry leaves ¼ tsp turmeric powder ½ tsp red chilli powder Salt, to taste Oil, for cooking Fresh coriander leaves, for garnish
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, curry leaves, and chopped onions.
Sauté until the onions turn translucent, and add chopped vegetables like carrots, peas, and bell peppers.
Cook the vegetables until they are slightly tender, and add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and salt.
Mix well and add water. Bring it to a boil and then add oats. Cook the oats on low heat until they are soft and well-cooked.
Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with chutney or yoghurt.
You can add any vegetables of your choice, like beans, corn, or cauliflower.
You can store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
