India and its relation with chai and its snacks is beyond a love story. One such snack is the chakli. It is a crunchy, spiral-shaped snack that is made by combining rice, gram flour, butter and urad dal. It's time you try your hands on making chaklis at home.
½ cup of rice flour ½ cup of urad dal 2 tablespoons of butter 1 tablespoon of cumin seeds ½ cup of curd Salt to taste 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds 1 tablespoon of black pepper or red pepper
Knead a firm dough using rice flour, urad dal and curd. Add butter, cumin seeds, sesame seeds and black or red pepper.
Now take a chakli maker and start placing portions of dough inside it. The chakli maker will help you give the desired spiral shape.
You can also use a mould if you don’t have a chakli maker at home.
Once all the chaklis are moulded into shape, heat a pan with. Start frying the chaklis by flipping them from both sides until golden.
Transfer into a plate covered with a paper to drain the oil. Chaklis are ready to relish.
Keep a batch of chaklis ready at home that will keep you sorted for all the evenings.
