As per Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva is known to attain a calm and meditative state by consuming bhang. If you want to prepare prasad, here is a recipe for making bhang thandai for Mahashivratri.
1 cup almonds ½ cup cashew nuts ¼ cup pistachios 2 tablespoons saunf 1 tablespoon khus khus 1 tablespoon cardamom seeds ½ teaspoon black peppercorns ½ teaspoon bhang seed powder A few strands of saffron A small piece of dried ginger 1 litre milk ½ cup sugar Rose petals for garnish Chopped dry fruits for garnish
Soak all the nuts and seeds overnight.
Mix them together, add saffron, ginger, bhang powder, and grind it into a thick paste.
Combine the paste with milk and sugar.
Once frothy, pour the thandai into glasses. Garnish with rose petals and nuts, and serve.
