How To Make Authentic Kolkata Street-Style Jhalmuri At Home

Sweet, tangy, and spicy with that unmissable zing of mustard oil, the jhalmuri can impress the taste buds of patrons from all over the world. It is an easy-to-make puffed rice mix at home; there is no snack that Bengal loves more.

Ingredients

2 cups of puffed rice or muri 4 finely chopped onions ¼ cup of boiled potato ¼ cup of chopped cucumber 2 cups of chopped coconut ½ cup of namkeen mixture 1 teaspoon of coriander paste 1 teaspoon of ginger paste ½ teaspoon of green chilli paste A pinch of mustard oil Salt as needed

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, add the puffed rice.

Step 2

Add in the onions, tomatoes, coconuts, cucumber, potatoes and namkeen mixture.

Step 3

Gently toss it. Add the coriander, ginger and green chilli paste. Mix well.

Step 4

Add a pinch of mustard oil. Give the mixture a toss.

Step 5

Serve jhalmuri in paper cones or small bowls with a squeeze of lemon!
