Appe, the bite-sized South Indian munchies, are perfect for a healthy snack or a quick breakfast. To make a batch of fluffy appe at home, just follow this 5-step recipe and pair it with chutney or sambar.
1 cup rice 1/4 cup urad dal 1/4 cup fenugreek seeds 1/4 cup grated coconut 1 green chilli, finely chopped 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon cumin powder Salt to taste Water as needed
Rinse and soak rice, urad dal, and fenugreek seeds for at least 5 hours.
Add grated coconut, green chilli, turmeric, cumin powder, and salt. Grind to get a smooth batter.
Add water to adjust consistency. Let the batter ferment.
Heat the appe pan or mould and pour in the batter.
Cook till the appe are golden brown on both sides. Serve with sambar or coconut chutney.
