Having a cappuccino feels fancy, but you do need to rush to a café every time you crave it. With just coffee, milk, and the right tips, you can enjoy a frothy cup anytime.
2 tsp instant coffee powder or espresso ½ cup hot water ½ cup full-fat milk 1 tsp sugar (optional) ¼ tsp cocoa powder or cinnamon (optional topping)
In a coffee mug, add 2 teaspoons of coffee, then pour in ½ cup of hot water and stir well until it dissolves completely, creating a strong, smooth base.
Take a saucepan and heat ½ cup of milk, but do not boil. Warm milk helps create better foam and maintains the creamy texture of the cappuccino.
With the help of a whisk, frother, or jar, vigorously whip the hot milk until it thickens, airy foam is built up and nearly doubles in volume.
Pour the prepared coffee into the coffee mug, add sugar as required, and gently mix to balance the bitterness of the coffee.
Gradually pour hot milk over the coffee, holding back foam with a spoon to make the classic layered cappuccino look.
Top it with milk foam and with a light dusting of cocoa powder or cinnamon to get a café-style feel and flavour.
