Blanching tomatoes is a simple technique to easily remove their skins, making them perfect for sauces, soups, and salads. Follow these steps for perfectly blanched tomatoes.
Wash the tomatoes thoroughly and make a small X-shaped cut at the bottom of each tomato.
Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil.
Carefully place the tomatoes into the boiling water for 30-60 seconds, until the skins start to peel away.
Immediately transfer the tomatoes to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.
Once cooled, gently peel off the skins starting from the X cut. Your blanched tomatoes are ready to use!
