Honey chilli Potato is the ultimate fusion appetiser, crispy, spicy and coated in a fiery glaze. Every bite strikes a perfect balance between crunch and sweetness, making it a must-have for parties or a quick evening snack to satisfy cravings.
3 medium potatoes (cut into fingers) 2 tbsp cornflour 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (maida) 2 tbsp oil 1 tbsp chopped garlic ½ onion, sliced 1 tbsp soy sauce 1 tbsp tomato ketchup 1½ tbsp honey 1 tsp red chilli sauce 1 tsp sesame seeds Spring onions for garnish Salt, as needed
Peel and cut the potatoes into thick fingers. Rinse them in cold water, pat dry and coat with cornflour, maida and salt.
Deep fry these potato fingers on medium heat until they turn golden and crispy. Place them on a tissue paper after frying.
In a pan, heat 2 tablespoons of oil and add garlic and sauté until it turns fragrant, then toss some sliced onions.
To this, add soy sauce, tomato ketchup, chilli sauce and a splash of water. Stir this until the sauce gets a thick consistency.
Reduce the heat and add 1.5 tablespoons of honey, and mix it in gently.
Add the fried potatoes to the sauce until they are well-coated. Garnish with some sesame seeds and chopped spring onions before serving.
