When summer heat makes the everyday spicy curries feel too heavy, dahi tadka becomes the rescue that instantly feels soothing. Creamy curd, when paired with smoky tempering, makes a light, cooling side dish that you can perfectly pair with rice or khichdi.
2 cups chilled curd 2 green chillies 1 tbsp chopped coriander 1 tsp roasted cumin powder Salt to taste 1 tbsp oil or ghee ½ tsp mustard seeds ½ tsp cumin seeds 6 curry leaves 2 dry red chillies 2 garlic cloves, chopped
In a large bowl, take chilled curd and whisk it thoroughly until it turns creamy, smooth and lump-free.
Now, mix in the salt, roasted cumin powder, chopped coriander and finely sliced green chillies to the curd.
In a pan, heat oil or ghee and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and curry leaves until it turns aromatic and crackle properly.
Now, add the chopped garlic and dry red chillies and saute briefly until they turn golden.
Now, carefully pour the prepared hot tempering directly over the prepared curd mixture.
Serve the prepared dahi tadka cold with hot steamed rice, khichdi or parathas for a comforting meal.
