Vegetable dalia is a healthy and nutritious one-pot meal made with lots of vegetables like carrots, green peas, potatoes, onions, and cauliflower, which turns out to be a perfect hearty breakfast or a light meal.
1 cup broken dalia 1/2 cup mixed vegetables (carrot, peas, beans, etc.) 1 finely chopped onion 1 chopped tomato 1 slit green chilli 1/2 tsp cumin seeds 1/4 tsp turmeric powder 1/2 tsp red chilli powder (optional) 1 tbsp oil or ghee Salt to taste 3 cups water Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Dry roast dalia in a pan until it turns golden, then set aside.
Heat oil or ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds, let them splutter, then add green chilli and sauté until onions turn soft.
Stir the tomatoes, cook until they get mushy, then mix the vegetables and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
Add turmeric, red chilli powder, salt, roasted dalia, water, and mix well.
Pressure cook for 2-3 whistles until dalia is soft and vegetables are cooked.
