Tahini is a creamy paste made by grinding toasted sesame seeds, often used in hummus, salad dressings, and Middle Eastern dishes. It’s simple to make at home and much fresher than store-bought versions.
1 cup white sesame seeds 2–3 tbsp neutral oil (like sunflower or olive oil)
Toast sesame seeds in a dry pan over low heat, stirring often, until lightly golden and aromatic. Let them cool completely.
Transfer the toasted seeds to a food processor and blend until crumbly.
Add 2 tablespoons of oil and blend again until a smooth paste forms. Add more oil only if needed.
Scrape down the sides and continue blending until creamy and pourable.
Store in an airtight jar in the fridge and use in dips, sauces, or baking.
