Looking for a crunchy snack that keeps you filled during fasting? Make this homemade vrat namkeen that is light, full of flavour and can be made in just a few minutes using vrat-friendly ingredients that are easily available in your kitchen.
11 cup makhana (fox nuts) ½ cup roasted peanuts ¼ cup roasted almonds 2 tbsp dried coconut slices 1 tbsp ghee 1 tsp cumin seeds ½ tsp rock salt (sendha namak) ½ tsp black pepper powder ½ tsp roasted cumin powder
In a pan, heat ghee and roast makhana on low flame for about 6 to 8 minutes until they turn crisp, then remove and keep aside.
In the same pan, roast peanuts, almonds and coconut slices lightly, keeping the flame low. Do not brown too much. Remove and keep aside.
Add a little more ghee to the pan, add cumin seeds and let them crackle, then turn off the flame.
Now, in the pan, add roasted makhana nuts, sendha namak, black pepper, roasted cumin powder, and mix everything well.
Let the namkeen cool down thoroughly, then store in an airtight container.
