Homemade Saunth Chutney: Your Tangy Ginger Chaat Partner

Saunth chutney is a sweet and tangy Indian condiment made with tamarind, jaggery, and dry ginger powder. It’s perfect for chaats, samosas, and snacks, adding rich flavour and a hint of spice.

Ingredients

½ cup tamarind pulp ½ cup sugar (adjust to taste) 1 tsp dry ginger powder (saunth) ½ tsp roasted cumin powder ½ tsp black salt ½ tsp red chilli powder (optional) 1½ cup water

Step 1

In a pan, mix tamarind pulp, jaggery, water and heat on medium flame.

Step 2

Stir until the jaggery melts completely.

Step 3

Add saunth, cumin, black salt, and chilli powder.

Step 4

Simmer for 8-10 minutes till it gets slightly thick.

Step 5

Cool completely, then strain (optional) for a smooth chutney
