Explore this flaky mathri that’s perfect to lift your mood. Made with moong dal, semolina, and whole wheat flour, it has a crispy texture and a mild kick from spices like black pepper and ajwain. Follow the step-by-step recipe to try this tasty homemade snack.
1 cup moong dal 3 tbsp semolina 2 cups whole wheat flour 1/2 tsp cumin seeds 3 tbsp ghee 1 tsp black pepper 1 tsp ajwain Salt to taste Water as required 1/2 tsp turmeric powder Oil for frying
Start by soaking moong dal for an hour and then grinding it into a smooth paste.
Knead the dough by combining the moong dal paste along with other ingredients.
Let the dough rest for at least 20 minutes.
Roll small dough balls and shape them into mathri while the oil gets heated in a deep pan.
Deep-fry mathri until the crust is crunchy. You can also bake them at 180°C for 20-25 minutes.
Use an airtight jar to store mathri and enjoy with tea or coffee.
