This recipe for popcorn chicken isn't your typical one. With Holi 2026 a few days away, new drink recipes are a must. Trying this chicken firecracker popcorn recipe is a fun way to kickstart the festival.
400g boneless chicken 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp garlic paste ½ tsp pepper powder ¾ tsp salt 1 egg white 2 tsp cornflour powder Oil spray 1 tsp butter 1 ½ tsp chilli flakes 1 tsp honey 1 tsp pepper powder 1-2 tsp mustard sauce 3-4 tbsp of hot water Chopped spring onion, for garnish
Combine the chicken, cornflour, egg white, and all the seasonings. Rest it for 15–20 minutes.
If using an air fryer, cook for 12 to 15 minutes at 200°C, shaking halfway through, until golden and crispy.
Bake on a tray at 220°C for 18 to 22 minutes, turning once if using an oven. Make the sauce next.
Melt butter, add garlic, salt, pepper, honey, mustard, chilli flakes, chilli powder, and hot water. Simmer for 1 to 2 minutes, or until slightly thick.
Serve hot with a garlicky yoghurt sauce after coating crispy chicken in the sauce, tossing rapidly, and garnishing with spring onions.
Combine Greek yoghurt, chopped spring onion leaves, garlic paste, salt, pepper, and honey; serve as a refreshing dip for the hot chicken.
