Shrikhand is a beloved traditional Indian sweet made from strained yogurt, scented generously with cardamom and saffron. This high-protein twist replaces traditional hung curd with thick Greek yogurt, drastically cutting down prep time while supercharging the protein content. Naturally creamy, subtly sweet, and garnished with crushed pistachios and dried rose petals, this healthy festive dessert satisfies sweet cravings during autumn celebrations while keeping your nutrition goals on track.
2 cups plain Greek yogurt (unsweetened) 1/3 cup powdered organic sugar or honey (adjust to taste) 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder A pinch of saffron strands dissolved in 1 tablespoon warm milk 2 tablespoons chopped pistachios and almonds for garnish Dried rose petals for festive presentation
Transfer the thick plain Greek yogurt to a mixing bowl, ensuring it is well chilled.
Add the powdered organic sugar (or honey), cardamom powder, and the warm saffron-milk mixture directly to the yogurt.
Whisk vigorously for two to three minutes using a wire whisk or hand mixer until the mixture becomes completely smooth, light, and airy.
Transfer the shrikhand to a serving bowl, chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour to let the flavors meld, and garnish with chopped nuts and rose petals before serving.
