When you crave a chocolate treat but do not want to reach for packaged options, these chocolate waffles can be a perfect pick. Made with simple, everyday pantry ingredients, these healthy chocolate waffles offer a perfectly balanced breakfast that you can make for your everyday cravings and also for when mornings seem too busy.

Ingredients

For The Waffles 1 cup whole wheat flour 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder 1 tbsp powdered jaggery or brown sugar 1 tsp baking powder ¼ tsp baking soda 1 egg (or 2 tbsp yoghurt for eggless version) ¾ cup milk 2 tbsp melted butter or coconut oil 1 tsp vanilla extract Pinch of salt For Serving Fresh banana slices Mixed berries (optional) Greek yogurt Honey or maple syrup (optional) Chopped nuts

Step 1

In a bowl, add whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, jaggery, and salt and mix everything nicely.

Step 2

In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, vanilla, and melted butter to make a smooth and lump-free mixture.

Step 3

Now, add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients. Mix everything nicely, but do not overmix so that the waffles remain soft from within while getting crisp golden edges while you cook.

Step 4

Pour the prepared batter into the preheated waffle maker and cook it for about 4–5 minutes until you see the waffles turn crisp on the outside and fluffy in the middle.

Step 5

Once made, top it up with a spoonful of Greek yoghurt, freshly chopped fruits, nuts, and a drizzle of honey for a wholesome breakfast.
