Curry leaves need to be stored correctly to preserve their freshness, aroma, and nutritional value. Improper storage can lead to wilting, loss of flavour, and nutrient degradation. Proper storage ensures they remain aromatic, flavourful, and ready for use in cooking.
Gently wash the curry leaves to remove any dirt. Pat them dry using a clean towel or paper towel.
Pluck the leaves from the stems for easier storage.
Place the leaves in a damp paper towel to keep them fresh and prevent wilting.
Place the wrapped curry leaves in an airtight container or ziplock bag.
Store the container in the fridge. This helps the leaves stay fresh for up to 1-2 weeks.
For longer storage, freeze the curry leaves. Spread them out on a tray, freeze, and then transfer to a ziplock bag.
When frozen, you can directly add them to your dishes without thawing.
