November 5, 2025

Celebrated on 5 November 2025, Guru Nanak Jayanti marks the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Sikh Guru. Kada Prasad, made from just three simple ingredients, wheat flour, ghee, and sugar, symbolises equality, humility, and divine grace.

Ingredients

1 cup Wheat Flour 1 cup Desi Ghee 1 cup Sugar 3 cups Water

Step 1

Combine 3 cups water and 1 cup sugar in a pan. Heat gently until the sugar dissolves completely, without forming a syrup. Set aside and keep warm.

Step 2

In a heavy-bottomed pan, melt 1 cup desi ghee over a medium flame.

Step 3

Once the ghee is hot, add 1 cup wheat flour and stir continuously to avoid lumps.

Step 4

Keep stirring on a medium to low flame until the flour turns golden brown and emits a nutty aroma, taking about 10–15 minutes.

Step 5

The mixture will appear slightly coarse and begin to release ghee, indicating proper roasting.

Step 6

Carefully pour the hot sugar water into the roasted flour while stirring constantly. Take care, as the mixture will bubble vigorously.

Step 7

Continue stirring until the mixture thickens, leaves the sides of the pan, and ghee rises to the surface. Turn off the heat, your Kada Prasad is ready to serve warm.
