Gujarati White Dhokla: Here’s How To Make The Healthy Snack

White dhokla, also known as khatta dhokla is a Gujarati snack that can be made with rice and urad dal. Unlike the yellow dhokla, it has a subtle, tangy flavour and a fluffier texture. Here’s how to make it.

Ingredients

1 cup rice ½ cup urad dal ½ cup curd Salt to taste 2 tablespoons oil 1 teaspoon mustard seeds 2-3 slit green chillies 8-10 curry leaves A pinch of hing For Garnishing: 2 tablespoons grated coconut 2 tablespoons coriander leaves

Step 1

Wash and soak rice and urad dal. Drain and grind till smooth. Add curd and salt. Let it ferment.

Step 2

Grease a pan with some oil and boil water in a steamer.

Step 3

Pour the batter into the pan and place it in the steamer. Steam for 15-20 minutes.

Step 4

Prepare the tempering by sautéing green chillies, curry leaves, and hing.

Step 5

Let the dhokla cool down and drizzle the tempering over it.

Step 6

Garnish with grated coconut and coriander leaves. Serve with a chutney.
