Fermentation is a centuries-old method to preserve and enhance the nutrient value and taste of food. You can ferment your leftover rice to make a natural probiotic and boost your gut health. Here’s how.
Leftover cooked rice Water for soaking Curd or buttermilk as required Salt as required Glass container with a lid
Take a glass container and soak the cooked rice in water till all of the grains are under the water.
To speed up the fermentation process, add some curd or buttermilk.
Add a pinch of salt to the glass container to enhance the taste.
Cover the container with a lid and place it in a warm spot for about 12 to 24 hours.
When you see little bubbles forming on the surface, check if the fermentation is completed.
Once satisfied with the taste, refrigerate the fermented rice and use it for up to a week.
