Gajrela, also known as gajar ka halwa, is a beloved North Indian dessert that's as comforting as it is delicious. To whip up the rich winter dessert at home, follow this authentic 5-step recipe.
1 kg carrots 1 litre of milk 250 grams of sugar 100 grams of ghee 1 teaspoon cardamom powder 25 grams of cashews 25 grams of almonds 25 grams of raisins
Heat some ghee, grate the carrots and saute them till soft.
Pour in the milk and let it boil. Let it simmer till the milk thickens.
Add sugar and cardamom powder. Stir well till the sugar dissolves.
Once the milk is thickened, garnish the halwa with chopped almonds, cashews, and raisins.
Serve the gajrela warm or chilled as per your liking.
