Onam Sadhya or Onasadhya is a traditional feast served on a banana leaf. It comprises seasonal ingredients and local delicacies. Elevate the spread this year with wheat payasam.
4 cups water 1 cup broken wheat 3 crushed cardamom 1 cup thick coconut milk 500g jaggery ½ cup coconut bits ¼ cup raisins 3.5 cups thin coconut milk 2 tbsp ghee ¼ cup cashews ½ cup water
Pressure cook broken wheat for 6-7 whistles, and keep it closed for 15 minutes.
Melt jaggery in ½ cup of water and mix it with cooked wheat.
Cook the mixture until it starts to leave the pan.
Add coconut milk and keep cooking until the blend has thickened.
Roast the dry fruits in ghee and sprinkle them over payasam.
Serve the payasam along with other Onam dishes.
