Originating from the streets of Old Delhi, Sharbat-e-Mohabbat is a cooling, milky drink that perfectly balances the floral notes of rose syrup with the refreshing crunch of fresh watermelon. It is vibrant, visually stunning, and incredibly cooling, making it the ideal drink to serve during the summer heat of Eid celebrations. The contrast between the cold, sweet milk and the juicy fruit pieces is truly unforgettable.
500ml chilled full-fat milk 1/4 cup Rooh Afza or rose syrup 1 cup finely chopped watermelon (seeds removed) 1 tbsp soaked basil seeds (sabja) Ice cubes
Combine the chilled milk and rose syrup in a large pitcher, stirring well until the milk turns a deep, beautiful pink.
Add the soaked basil seeds and the chopped watermelon pieces, ensuring the fruit is incorporated evenly.
Add a few ice cubes to keep the drink chilled without diluting the flavour.
Serve in tall glasses, ensuring each portion gets plenty of watermelon bits, and serve immediately.
