Snickerdoodles are soft, chewy cookies coated in cinnamon sugar that make warm, nostalgic Christmas gifts. Cream of tartar gives them their classic tang and a distinctive puff as they bake, resulting in a texture that stays tender in the centre.
1 cup flour ¼ cup butter ¼ cup sugar ¼ cup brown sugar ½ tsp cream of tartar ¼ tsp baking soda Cinnamon sugar mix
Cream butter with both sugars, then add the dry ingredients to create a soft dough.
Roll small portions of dough in cinnamon sugar.
Place on a baking sheet and flatten slightly with your fingertips.
Bake at 175°C for 10–12 minutes until lightly puffed and still soft in the centre.
