There is nothing quite like the icy, crystalline texture of a cola slushie to transport you back to the effortless summers of the nineties. This homemade version is a brilliant hack that allows you to achieve that iconic semi-frozen consistency without needing a specialised machine.
500ml bottle of Coca-Cola (regular or cherry) 1 cup ice cubes (for serving) Optional: A squeeze of lime for a zesty twist Method
Pour the cola into a wide, shallow freezer-safe container or a heavy-duty zip-top bag to increase the surface area for faster, more even freezing.
Place it in the freezer for approximately two to three hours, checking every forty-five minutes to scrape the edges with a fork and break up the forming ice crystals.
Continue this process of freezing and scraping until the entire mixture has transformed into a soft, scoopable snowy texture.
Spoon the slushie into chilled glasses, add a squeeze of fresh lime if you prefer a sharper finish, and serve immediately with a wide straw.
