Monsoon is the perfect season to grow fenugreek leaves, which are essential to replicate restaurant-style recipes at home. This short guide will help you grow these beneficial leafy greens at home.
The best part about growing fenugreek leaves is you don’t have to source seeds from anywhere but your kitchen. Use the fresh ones.
Sprout the seeds in an egg tray or shallow pots first. These leaves don’t need deep roots. You can even grow them in a tray with just coco peat.
For a good harvest, make sure the soil is well-draining. Using a good-quality pot mix is the key to growing fresh and green leaves.
Soak the methi seeds overnight and sow them into the soil. Cover them with a centimetre layer of the soil.
Make sure the pot receives at least 4-6 hours of sunlight every day. If the weather is hot, you can keep the pot in partial shade as well.
Keep an eye out for garden pests and fertilise the soil using an organic blend. Keep plucking the weeds to prevent the loss of nutrients.
Fenugreek leaves are usually ready within 2-3 weeks of sowing. Harvest the entire plant. For regular supply, keep sowing seeds every 1-2 weeks.
