Turn everyday simple pantry ingredients into a rich Indian dessert with this simple chocolate barfi recipe. Adding Cocoa powder gives it a decadent flavour, while the fuss-free process makes it perfect to try for beginners as well.
2 cups milk powder ½ cup cocoa powder 1 cup condensed milk ¼ cup milk 2 tbsp ghee ½ tsp cardamom powder (optional) 2 tbsp chopped almonds 2 tbsp chopped pistachios 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional) A pinch of salt
Grease a tray or a steel plate with a little ghee and keep it aside.
In a heavy-bottomed pan, mix condensed milk, milk, cocoa powder, milk powder, and some ghee. Stir it constantly over low flame until everything mixes evenly.
Keep stirring it until you see the mixture turn thick and start to leave the sides of the pan. Now, add vanilla, cardamom, and a pinch of salt to add extra flavour.
Move the mixture to the greased tray and then spread it evenly with a spoon or greased spatula. Sprinkle the chopped almonds and pistachios, and gently press them to the top.
Let the barfi cool down thoroughly, then refrigerate it for at least an hour or two. Cut this into equal squares and enjoy as a decadent homemade chocolate treat.
