Halwa is a staple in many North Indian households, especially during festivals and special occasions. There are many types of halwa, but during the rainy season, a warm and filling sweet is what you crave for. This sweet potato halwa is tasty, comforting, and brings back childhood memories with every bite.
500 grams sweet potatoes 200 grams of sugar 100 grams of ghee 4-5 cardamom pods A pinch of saffron Chopped dry fruits
Boil the sweet potatoes, then peel and mash them thoroughly. Set aside.
Heat some ghee and cook the mashed potatoes till golden brown.
Add sugar and stir till it dissolves properly. Mix in crushed cardamom and saffron.
Garnish with chopped dry fruits and enjoy your shakarkandi halwa.
