Drumstick Leaves: Make Murungai Keerai Podi In 5 Easy Steps

Drumstick leaves, or moringa leaves, can be used to make Murungai Keerai Podi. Known for its medicinal properties and for spicing up dosas and idlis. To make the podi at home, try this 5-step recipe.

Ingredients

1 teaspoon oil 1 tablespoon channa dal 1 tablespoon urad dal 1 tablespoon dhaniya 1 teaspoon jeera 1 teaspoon black pepper 5 dry red chilli 1.5 cups moringa leaves 1 small tamarind 1/2 teaspoon hing Salt to taste

Step 1

Wash the moringa leaves and let them dry.

Step 2

Heat some oil and saute chana dal and urad dal on a low flame.

Step 3

Add the remaining ingredients and cook for a few more minutes.

Step 4

Finally, add the drumstick leaves and cook on a slow flame till they turn crispy.

Step 5

Grind it into a coarse powder, adding hing and salt. Store in an air-tight container.
