Chakli, the spiral-shaped snack, is a Diwali favourite that is super addictive. However, if you want to make a healthier version of chakli, here’s how to use millet to make it gluten-free. Also, air-fry instead of deep-frying to minimise the oil.
1 cup ragi flour 1/2 cup jowar flour 1/4 cup rice flour 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds 1/4 teaspoon red chilli powder 1/4 teaspoon hing 1/4 cup oil 1/4 cup water or as needed Oil for deep frying
Mix ragi flour, jowar flour, rice flour, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, red chilli powder, and hing.
Gradually add oil and mix. Add water to knead a smooth dough. Let it rest.
Heat some oil. Take a small portion of the dough and roll it into a long rope.
Make a spiral shape and air-fry or deep-fry until crispy.
Drain on a paper towel, let it cool, and add to your Diwali spread.
