Besan laddoo is a timeless Diwali delicacy prized for its rich, aromatic flavor and melt-in-the-mouth texture. This quick 15-minute microwave method eliminates tedious stovetop roasting while preserving the signature roasted gram flour aroma and golden hue. Sweetened with powdered sugar and laced with green cardamom, it is the perfect emergency mithai recipe for last-minute Diwali 2026 hosting.
1 cup coarse gram flour (besan) 4 tablespoons pure desi ghee (melted) 1/2 cup powdered sugar or boora 1/2 teaspoon green cardamom powder 1 tablespoon slivered pistachios and almonds
In a microwave-safe glass bowl, mix the besan and melted desi ghee together until fully combined into a thick paste.
Microwave on high power in 60-second intervals for four to five minutes total, removing to stir thoroughly between each interval until the besan turns golden brown and releases a nutty aroma.
Remove the bowl, stir in the green cardamom powder, and let the mixture cool for five minutes until warm to the touch.
Mix in the powdered sugar thoroughly, shape the dough into firm round laddoos using your palms, garnish with slivered nuts, and let them set completely.
