Diwali 2025: Make This Pesto Hummus Recipe For Your Festive Table

This pesto hummus combines the earthy taste of chickpeas with the fresh, herby flavour of basil pesto. It’s a creamy dip that pairs well with crackers, vegetable sticks, or toasted pita, and works as a spread for sandwiches and wraps too at your Diwali celebration.

Ingredients

1 cup cooked chickpeas (or canned) 2 tbsp tahini (or sesame paste) 1 tbsp lemon juice 1 garlic clove Salt to taste 2–3 tbsp olive oil 2 tbsp basil leaves 1 tbsp grated cheese (Parmesan or processed) 1 green chilli (optional)

Step 1

In a mixer or food processor, blend the chickpeas, tahini, garlic, lemon juice, salt, and olive oil until smooth.

Step 2

Add the basil leaves, grated cheese, and green chilli if using. Blend again until creamy. Add a spoonful of water or oil if the texture is too thick.

Step 3

Taste and adjust seasoning. Add more lemon or salt if needed, and drizzle with olive oil.

Step 4

Serve with toasted bread, lavash, or sliced carrots and cucumbers.
