Dhonepata Bata is a traditional Bengali green leaf paste primarily made from fresh coriander leaves and green chilli. Known for its pungent and slightly spicy taste, this paste is often served with steamed rice. Here’s the Bengali recipe to follow.
2 bunches of fresh coriander leaves (Dhonepata) 4 green chillies 5 garlic cloves 2 tbsp mustard oil 2 tbsp lemon juice Salt to taste
Wash the coriander leaves thoroughly to remove dirt. Pat them dry using a clean cloth.
In a grinder (or a grinding stone), grind the coriander leaves, green chillies, and garlic into a smooth paste.
Add some raw mustard oil and salt to the mixture. Squeeze some lemon juice and serve with steamed rice.
