Dal palak is a healthy Indian dish prepared with protein-rich lentils and iron-rich spinach. This comforting palak dal recipe is light, nutritious, and perfect for everyday meals with steamed rice or soft rotis.
1 cup toor dal 2 cups chopped palak 1 chopped onion 1 chopped tomato 1 tsp minced garlic ½ tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp cumin seeds 1 tbsp ghee or oil Salt to taste
Wash and pressure cook toor dal with turmeric and enough water until soft and mushy.
Add chopped palak to the cooked dal and simmer for 5-7 minutes until fully softened.
Heat ghee or oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, garlic, and chopped onion, then sauté till golden.
Add tomato and cook till it turns soft and releases oil.
Pour this tempering into the dal, add salt, mix well, and simmer for a few minutes.
