Moong dal pakoda is a crispy and flavourful Indian snack made from yellow split moong dal, which is light and protein-rich. These fritters are spiced with herbs, onions and then deep-fried to perfection. They are popular during the monsoon season and are enjoyed with green chutney or tea.
1 cup yellow moong dal 2 finely chopped green chillies 1 inch grated ginger 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves 1 finely chopped onion ½ tsp cumin seeds ¼ tsp turmeric powder ½ tsp red chilli powder Salt to taste Oil for deep frying
Wash and soak, moong dal in water for 3 to 4 hours, drain and grind to a coarse paste without adding much water.
Transfer batter to a bowl, mix in green chillies, ginger, onion, coriander, cumin, turmeric, red chilli powder, and salt.
Heat oil in a deep pan, drop small portions of the batter into hot oil using a spoon or hand.
Fry on medium flame till pakodas turn golden brown and crisp, the drain on paper towels
Serve hot with green chutney or ketchup.
