Keerai bonda is a crispy and delicious South Indian snack made with keerai, also known as spinach, gram flour and spices. Click to take a look at the easy-to-follow recipe.
For the Batter: 1 cup gram flour 1/4 cup rice flour 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp red chilli powder 1/2 tsp asafoetida Salt to taste Water as needed For the Filling: 1 cup finely chopped spinach (keerai) 1 finely chopped onion 1 tsp finely chopped green chilli 1 tsp grated ginger A few chopped curry leaves, chopped For Frying: Oil - for deep frying
Mix gram flour, rice flour, turmeric, red chilli powder, asafoetida, salt and add water gradually to form a thick batter.
Mix spinach, onion, green chilli, ginger and curry leaves.
Take small portions of the filling, shape them into balls and dip them in the batter.
Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the bondas until they turn golden brown and crispy.
Serve with coconut chutney or ketchup
