Moong dal ladoo is a classic Indian sweet, loved for its rich, nutty flavour and melt-in-the-mouth texture. It is perfect for festivals or special occasions, making it easy to make at home as well.
1 cup moong dal (yellow, split) ¾ cup powdered sugar ½ cup ghee ¼ tsp cardamom powder 2 tbsp chopped nuts (almonds, cashews)
In a pan, dry roast the moong dal on low heat. Keep stirring it continuously until it turns fragrant and lightly golden.
Let the roasted dal cool down thoroughly, then grind to make a fine powder, so that the texture is smooth while making ladoos.
In a pan, heat ghee and add the powdered moong dal, and roast again on a low flame, and stir continuously until it releases a deep aroma.
Keep roasting it until the mixture turns a bit darker and leaves the sides of the pan. This indicates that it is well-cooked and ready to make laddoos.
Turn off the heat, let the mixture cool a bit, then mix in the powdered sugar, cardamom powder, and chopped nuts, and mix everything evenly.
While still warm, take a small portion of the mixture, grease your palms with ghee and shape into small bite-sized ladoos.
